Located inland and north of Fairfield, Easton was settled in 1639 and incorporated in 1845. Commercial entities are limited to two general stores, a few gas stations and produce stands, all of which pre-date the 1941 establishment of zoning laws. Easton's population is affluent and educated. It has been home to Helen Keller, Bellamy Partridge, Hume Cronyn and the late Jessica Tandy, in addition to many other celebrities.

Easton's public schools are excellent. There are two public schools, the Samuel Staples Elementary School for grades K-5 and the Helen Keller Middle School for grades 6-8. Joel Barlow High School in neighboring Redding serves as a regional high school for both Easton and Redding students. Ninety-five percent of Joel Barlow graduates attend college. Fairfield University, Sacred Heart University and The University of Bridgeport are world-renowned local colleges located within easy driving distance. Yale University is only a half-hour away in New Haven.

There are several private clubs in the area that provide racquet sports, swimming and horseback riding and boarding. The Connecticut Golf Club is a private 18-hole course serving both Stratford and Easton. This part of Fairfield County is centrally located, giving residents easy access to all the East Coast has to offer. It is just an hour to New York City and 2.5 hours to historic Boston. Many of New England's top ski areas are just 3 to 3.5 hours away. And, scenic Long Island is just a ferry ride away.
